Our first team of the summer have returned from the experience of a lifetime in Uganda, having made a mammoth difference to the lives of a rural Ugandan community over the past 2 weeks.
The High School of Glasgow headed out to Uganda to explore this beautiful country, experience its incredible landscpaes, spot plenty of wildlife, and most importantly, spend time in a local community, learning about their way of life and completing really worthwhile community work that has already made a huge difference to the lives of the local people.
The bulk of their project was based around the restoration and development of Kinyerere Primary School, and their amazing achievements included a new classroom block, a solar panel, benches and desks, and plenty of new equipment and resources for all the students and teachers to enjoy! The team really got stuck in, helping to teach lessons and play games during their time there, as well as working alongside the Ugandan team to complete the all-important building project.
HSOG raised a massive £7000 towards their project, and the benefits of their generous donations and hard work are already clear to see. They've made a truly lasting impact on this community and the experiences they've had will last a lifetime. Let's hope those smiles do too!
