On 21 April 2019 bombs were used to attack three churches and three hotels in Sri Lanka (Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa) causing significant casualties.
Safety is of paramount importance to Far Frontiers on all of our expeditions. We follow the travel advice of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). If the FCO were to advise not to travel to Sri Lanka, or any of the regions in our itineraries, we will make alternative arrangements which we will discuss with those teams that are booked to travel. At present the advice is to be vigilant and plan movements carefully but there is no advice against travel to Sri Lanka. Security has been stepped up across the island and there are ongoing security operations including a nationwide curfew between 8pm and 4am and increased airport security checks.
All of our activities in Sri Lanka are organised by Far Frontiers, led by a UK Far Frontiers Expeditions Leader and supported by trusted local guides. We use private and pre-booked transport throughout the expedition.
We continue to make arrangements for all groups booked to go to Sri Lanka in 2019, and should the situation change, or the location need reviewing you will be informed immediately.
