UPDATE - They did it!
An incredible accomplishment!
From a parent:
"You have clearly had an amazing trip. (My son) came home so full of energy and excitement and we have had a blow by blow description. It is such a good thing to put them through experiences like this and I cannot thank you enough for giving him the opportunity of such an adventure"
The Harrow students are 5 days in to their adventurous and exciting expedition in Switzerland with Far Frontiers Expeditions.
Preparation for this expedition started in January where the team undertook winter training in Cairngorms National Park (see a video of some of their experiences here).
Now the team are in Switzerland, they have been taught how to master crucial rope work, crampon and ice axe skills as well as taking on some challenging Via Ferratta. All of the skills learnt so far will come together when the team take on the challenging ascent of the Dom Mountain on Thursday.
The team have already team developed their snow and ice techniques and summited Weissmies (4017m) and Allalinhorn (4027m). They are climbing to the Dom Hut on Wednesday morning from the valley floor in Randa, ready for their 2.30am summit attempt of the Dom (4545m) the following day. Good luck team!
