On 30 May 2016 Christopher Short departed Portishead Quays Marina in his Contessa 32 - Azolum, on an anti-clockwise, double handed sailing expedition around Britain. Once around Lands End Chris will cruise the southern coast of Britain, heading for St Katherine's Dock in London. Next up the east coast and through the spectacular Caledonian Canal, through the Scottish Islands and the Crinan Canal. Then from Rhu Marina near Glasgow across to Bangor in Northern Ireland, south to Ardglass in Eire, then to Peel on the Isle of Man, to Wales via the Menai Straits, down the west coast of Wales and up the Bristol Channel back to Portishead. There will be breaks to fit in with pre-organised work appointments. In essence it will be a combination of day sails with some longer passages over 100 nautical miles when needs must.
I have travelled the world but the prospect of visiting the coast of my own nation is thrilling and I can't wait for the journey to begin.
